Urbanjustice.org. At a NAMI of Bucks General Meeting, a Program on Suicide Prevention was presented by Devereux Foundation's Susan Keisling and Paul LeBuffe, certified national trainers on "QPR" (Question, Persuade, Refer), a model of suicide prevention training for professionals. Attended by mostly family members, the presentation emphasized the steps to take when you suspect that a loved one may be contemplating suicide. The "QPR" represent: Question the person about suicide.. Ask if they are considering suicide. Do they have thoughts? Feelings? Plans? Don't be afraid to ask. If you feel you cannot ask, get someone else to ask them. Reach out. Asking the question does not increase the risk. Persuade the person to get help. Listen carefully. Then say, "Let me help", or "Come with me to find help" REFER for Help. If a child or adolescent, contact any adult, any parent. Or call your minister, rabbi, a teacher, coach or counselor. Or call Devereux Foundation 1-800-345-1292. or Contact Greater Philadelphia Warning signs of suicide:
