NAMI FAMILY-TO-FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAM

For Family Members of Close Relatives with

Major Depression

Bipolar Disorder *

Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder

Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and

Borderline Personality Disorder

*   Also called Manic Depression

A series of 12 weekly classes structured to help family members understand and support their ill relative while maintaining their own well being.  The course is taught by a team of trained volunteer family members who know what it's like to have a loved one with a serious mental illness in the family.  There is no cost to participate in the NAMI Family-to-Family Education program.  Over 50,000 family members in the U.S. and Canada have completed this course.  We think you will be pleased by how much assistance the program offers.  We invite you to call for more information.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED - Space Limited - For Family Members Only

      NEW EDUCATION PROGRAM TEACHERS!

NAMI Bucks County is proud to announce we have seven new NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program teachers!  They were trained at Cranaleigh Retreat Center, April 5-7, by Violet Cornish and Isabel  Godwin.

Three cheers and red balloons to all of them -- generous, gifted, brave souls who spent hours and hours mastering complex course materials and acquiring new skills.  As Joyce Burl, the brilliant family member who developed the program, would say, "Congratulations to our dear and wonderful new teachers!"  We are in their debt.  They deserve our thanks.  You will probably recognize their names:

                                 Carol Walsh                          Sharon Wasserman

                                Claire Wilson                        Judy Hurvitz

                                                     Pat Ohler

                         Jeffrey and Jane Drebes (Our first husband and wife team!)

 They will teach the NAMI-Family-to-Family Education Program,  free of charge, an intensive 12 week-course for families and friends of those who have severe brain disorders (mental illness).   Topics include clinical treatment, brain biology, medication review, problem-solving, communication and coping skills, self-help techniques and strategies for interacting with the social services system, the criminal justice system and psychiatrists who prescribe treatment.

Watch upcoming Newsletters for information about when and where the next classes will be scheduled.  If you wish to be notified or placed on a waiting list,  please call:
